How does LungSign™ work?
LungSign™ testing begins with the patient coughing into a small jar to
produce a sputum specimen. The specimen is sent to the Perceptronix laboratory,
where it is prepared on slides and stained using a stoichiometric DNA stain
procedure. LungSign™ uses a technology called automated image cytometry
(AIC), which mesures the properties of cells using light microsocpy. AIC detects
cells and makes precise measurements of their DNA amount, texture and conformation
properties. It combines this information into a single lung cancer risk related
score, based on LungSign™'s proprietary algorithm.
